Why they're durable and easy to wear PRAS trainers are renowned for their longevity. The secret is the durability of the vulcanisation process, which is the process of laminating the sole to the body of the trainer.
The vulcanisation process involves placing the hand-moulded upper and sole in a vulcanising kiln and applying heat and pressure at 120°C for 70 minutes.
Then the sulphur in the raw rubber undergoes a chemical reaction, and the raw rubber is transformed from its clay-like state into a rubber that "returns to its original shape when subjected to force".
Sneakers made using this process are durable, resistant to peeling and lose their shape, providing long-lasting comfort.
Manufactured by hand The upper and sole are made by hand. The moulding of the upper and sole is done by hand. The upper is hung onto the last of the foot, the sole is attached and then rubber tape is wrapped around it. The tape is then wrapped around the sole.
This process is done by hand, with the thickness and position of the tape being adjusted with the utmost care.
Original Kojima Canvas The upper is made of "Kojima Canvas" from Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. The upper is made from "Kojima Canvas", a fabric produced in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.
