High-spec down pursuing comfort and functionalityMizusawa down wear with high heat retention and comfort, produced using state-of-the-art technology at the Mizusawa Plant.
Born from the perspective of rethinking the weak points of down, Mizusawa down has achieved an unprecedentedly high level of water resistance by eliminating stitching, thermocompression bonding, and seam taping where sewing is required.
The fabrics used are high performance materials, and every detail from the design to the feel has been meticulously crafted to provide a high level of comfort that sets it apart from the rest.
The silhouette has been revised and updated for a more comfortable fit.
DESCENTE (Mizusawa Down)A Japanese sportswear brand that develops and sells sports-specific clothing. A collection called ALLTERRAIN incorporates experience gained over many years in the sports field into a collection that can be worn in a variety of settings.
Water resistance against rain and snowStitch perforations have been a weak point of down jackets with water entering through the gaps, reducing heat retention, and the down tends to fall out of the stitching.
A heat-adhesive non-quilt process is used for Mizusawa Down, eliminating the need for stitching on the outer fabric. Also, seam tapes are applied to the reverse side of sleeves and other areas where sewing is required to prevent water penetration and dramatically improve water resistance.
Two high-performance materialsThe outer fabric is made of DERMIZAX MICRO STRETCH, Toray's 4-way stretch material. This material has a soft and supple texture with excellent elasticity, high waterproofing, windproofing, and durable water repellency. It also features advanced color reproduction capabilities not found in other waterproof breathable fabrics.
The lining is made of "HEAT NAVI," which converts light into heat and actively retains heat. The two heat-generating powers of "photothermal heating," which converts transmitted light into heat, and "moisture absorption heating," which absorbs moisture generated by the body and converts it into heat, provide heat-generating power that surpasses conventional rising temperatures.
Details that enhance functionalityThe Para Hood System, which compactly fits the hood, prevents water and snow from pooling in the hood area. Watertight zips in key areas increase water resistance.
The high neck design prevents cold winds from entering, and down is also used in the neck area to maintain warmth.
Other details such as ribbed jersey collar, double-layered cuffs, drawcords inside the side pockets, and powder skirt inside the hem improve wind resistance, warmth, and fit.
Warmth retention and comfortThe "dual-zip ventilation" used in the front zipper section allows outside air to enter the garment through two rows of zippers and mesh fabric placed between them, allowing uncomfortable heat and moisture that can accumulate inside the jacket to escape.
The "Pit Zip ventilation" is also located at the sides of the jacket for added comfort.
Born from the hands of craftsmenIn addition to special techniques, a major point is the cutting pattern created by considering and calculating human mobility based on the know-how accumulated to date.
In addition, all processes from down pack formation, thermo-compression processing, and down stuffing are made one by one by experienced craftsmen. This is a treasured down jacket that can only be produced at DESCENTE Apparel's Mizusawa factory, which has an integrated production system for down wear that is rare even in Japan.
