What is Rope Dyeing?The raw yarn bundled into ropes is submerged in dye vats and exposed to air to oxidize and color. Repeating this process, the indigo gradually bonds with the oxygen in the air, resulting in a deep indigo blue.
Indigo has very weak adhesion, making it difficult to bond with oxygen in the air, causing a phenomenon called 'Nakajiro' where the core of the yarn remains undyed. This process creates the unique blue and white contrast over repeated wear.
